The journal ‘Themelios’ is now available to read for free on The Gospel Coalition website. Here is its blurb:
Themelios is an international evangelical theological journal that expounds and defends the historic Christian faith.
Its primary audience is theological students and pastors, though scholars read it as well. It was formerly a print journal operated by RTSF/UCCF in the UK, and it became a digital journal operated by The Gospel Coalition in 2008.
It’s an excellent resource, especially for students, and covers a variety of themes. One Bible and Mission example is Mission in the Bible: Non-Existent in the Old Testament but Ubiquitous in the New? A Review Article by Craig Blomberg.
Great news Tim, I haven’t read that journal in ages.
Hope all is well
Can I get some discussion going as a baby-boomer conservative evangelical? In the 50s I used to colour in my children’s Bible while listening to Leith Samuel at ABC. Nowadays there are the pragmatists and the confessionalists (I research this kind of thing.) How are we doing these days with leaders who seem to have a lovely personal faith but little idea at all of the models of Leith Samuel/Dr MLJ (my wife and I used to share a pew with his Mrs Bethan!)? What about all this ‘faith without the church’ stuff? And what about all that super-connecting, church-as-planet-parent stuff (cf the linked cultural forces leading to the off-the-rails notion of ‘cosmic child abuse’ of course)? Did Jesus really come to tell us this? How does this impact on the kind of church context we invite folk to join?
